Trump’s Gaza Strategy: A Modern Reflection of Zephaniah’s Prophetic Words

In a compelling alignment of biblical prophecy and modern politics, bestselling author Joel Rosenberg’s recent article in All Israel News (“Is Gaza’s Future Foretold in Biblical Prophecy?”) reminds believers that what’s happening in Gaza is not just regional unrest—it may be divine fulfillment in motion.

Rosenberg focuses on Zephaniah 2:4–7, where the prophet declared, “Gaza will be abandoned… Ashkelon left in ruins… The land by the sea will be pastures.” These words, once distant and mysterious, now echo with chilling clarity as Israel dismantles terrorist strongholds in Gaza and signals intentions for a lasting presence in the region.

“Are we watching Zephaniah’s prophecy unfold before our eyes?” Rosenberg asks. At Red Sky, we see every reason to believe that we are.

Importantly, Rosenberg draws attention to President Donald Trump’s ongoing stance on Gaza—one that has been mocked by the left and ignored by many in the international community. During his first term, Trump severed funding to the Palestinian Authority, moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, and signaled a hard line against Hamas-controlled Gaza. “Trump believed Israel should take over Gaza, once and for all,” Rosenberg writes. The president’s actions during his second term have certainly underscored that belief.

The tragic events of 2024 and 2025 have clearly vindicated Trump’s earlier actions—and perhaps even the spiritual timing—behind them. Likewise, Israel’s current state seems to reflect not only geopolitical necessity but prophetic trajectory.

Rosenberg is careful not to claim total fulfillment of Zephaniah’s prophecy, but he doesn’t shy away from the convergence either. And neither should we. The land by the sea is being cleared. Gaza is being emptied. The Word of God is unfolding before our eyes—not metaphorically, but geopolitically.

This is not about nationalism—it’s about sovereignty: God’s sovereignty over His Word, His land, and His people. Gaza has long been a place of lawlessness and bloodshed. According to the prophets, that will not always be so.

As always, we urge believers not to be swept up in political noise, but to stay alert to prophetic patterns. “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28).
