Omer Shem Tov spent over 500 days in Gaza’s underworld, kidnapped by Hamas during their October 7 slaughter of Israeli civilians. While the world debated ceasefires and played word games, Shem Tov was beaten, starved, and dragged through hell.
That changed the moment Donald Trump won the 2024 election.
In a candid revelation, the 22-year-old Tov, an Isrseli Jew, shared that his treatment improved notably after Donald Trump’s election victory.
“After Trump won, they started giving us more food and stopped the beatings,” Shem Tov recounted. “They were genuinely afraid of what he might do.” (Washington Times)
According to Tov, Hamas guards who once mocked and tortured him suddenly backed off. Not because they grew a conscience, but because they feared consequences. Shem Tov told Israel’s Channel 13 that his captors called Trump “dangerous” and made it clear they wished Kamala Harris had won instead. They feared force, not diplomatic negotiations.
Shem Tov was released on February 22. He later met with Trump and has continued to push for the release of hostages still trapped in Gaza. His message exposes the failure of weak international policies. What secured better treatment wasn’t negotiation. It was the threat of action.
Western governments keep indulging the fantasy that terrorism can be managed through talks and concessions. Shem Tov’s testimony destroys that lie.
The Bible doesn’t instruct restraint when innocent blood is spilled. It commands a response. “Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalm 82:3–4)
There is no middle ground. There are rescuers—and there are those who tolerate wickedness.
