Locke Hits the Core of the Matter
Pastor Greg Locke of Global Vision Bible Church delivered a sermon Wednesday night that cuts to the core of modern Christianity’s failure, and it’s making waves. In two separate articles, Charisma Magazine spotlighted Locke’s message, where he emphasized the importance of guiding individuals out of sin rather than shunning them. “I don’t care where you were last night,” Locke declared. “I care where you are today.” He criticized the church for being too intimidated by sin to confront it head-on, leaving the lost without a lifeline. In a continuation of this sermon, Locke addressed the “spirit of religion” that he believes hinders the Church’s mission. As detailed in Charisma Magazine, Locke argued that this spirit leads churches to focus on appearances rather than truth, mirroring the attitudes of religious leaders in Jesus’ time. “They still hate Jesus today,” he asserted, warning that such religious spirits distract believers from genuine repentance and revival. Pastor Locke’s message resonates with Jesus’ own rebuke of this element of religious hypocrisy:
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single [convert], and when he becomes a [convert], you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.” (Matthew 23:15)
