While lukewarm Western pastors sell out pulpits for applause and book deals, believers in China are being dragged into court and sentenced to prison for doing what Christ commands: sharing His Word and His love.
Nine Christians in Yunnan Province were sentenced on April 12 to as much as five years in prison, and collectively fined over $55,000, for distributing Bibles and Christian literature. Their “crime,” according to China’s godless regime? “Illegal business operations.” In reality, they were just giving people hope in Christ — and in China, that is illegal.
As reported by International Christian Concern, these believers were part of a network called “Stream Publishers,” linked to a local house church. Their materials included Pilgrim’s Progress, Streams in the Desert, and children’s Bibles — precious tools of faith we take for granted. They weren’t smuggling bombs or stirring uprisings. They were handing out Scripture.
Sidebar: China Is Literally Rewriting the Bible
As reported by the Christian Post, since 2018, the Chinese Communist Party has launched a plan to retranslate and “annotate” the Bible to reflect socialist values and Communist Party doctrine. Under the name of “Sinicization,” the regime seeks to purge the Gospel of anything that doesn’t serve state propaganda.
One state-run textbook, distributed at Chinese universities, rewrote John 8 so that Jesus stones the adulterous woman Himself, claiming “even He is a sinner” — a grotesque blasphemy that denies the sinlessness and deity of Christ. (More on this here)
Let’s shoot straight. China is banning Bible apps, arresting house church leaders, and actively rewriting the Gospel to serve the globalist goal to erase Christianity from world influence. And while they do it through brute force, right here in the US, progressive elites are doing the same thing through digital censorship and their absolute commitment to following the globalists’ anti-Christ game plan.
This isn’t just about China. It’s about our future, too.
We must pray — urgently and consistently — for these imprisoned saints. Ask God to strengthen their resolve, guard their families, and use their witness to awaken both East and West. And while you’re at it, pray for the lukewarm churches here in America to feel the holy shame of their silence.
“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them…” (Hebrews 13:3)These brave men and women counted the cost. The question is: would we?
