Mel Gibson Goes Viral—and Catholics Should Listen Before It’s Too Late

Gibson’s Rebuke Goes Viral After Papal Burial

Earlier this year, Mel Gibson, a devout Catholic, delivered a blistering interview on The Joe Rogan Experience calling out the Catholic Church’s leadership for abandoning biblical truth. In his words, the Church has become “a place of confusion” and is now “infected from the top.” He blasted the Vatican’s public embrace of the Pachamama idol during the Amazon Synod as “idolatry” and “apostasy.” Now, following the death and burial of Pope Francis, Gibson’s warning is going viral. And rightly so.

From Blasphemy to Prophecy

One of the most disturbing moments in modern Church history came when Pope John Paul II kissed the Muslim Quran in 1999. That single act sent a signal: the Vatican was willing to publicly honor false gods. It wasn’t diplomacy—it was blasphemy. And it foreshadowed the Vatican’s evidential role in establishing the prophesied one-world religion of the end times (Revelation 17:1–6).

Tradition, Corruption, and Compromise

What Gibson exposed is not a deviation—it’s the bad fruit of a system that long ago traded Scripture for the rituals of demonized men. The extravagant pomp, the indulgences, the exaltation of Mary, the dark confessional booths, the manmade hierarchy, the idol-laden cathedrals—and the long history of homosexuality and child abuse among the clergy—all contradict the plain truth of the Bible.

I’m a Witness

I was raised in a devout Catholic family on both sides—studded with priests, nuns, altar boys, even a bishop. I was confirmed at 13, but walked away that very day. Immediately after fake-kissing the bishop’s ring at the altar, I turned back to my pew and turned my back on the Church for good. From that moment, I became an atheist and stayed one for 18 years. I had seen enough—empty ritual, idolatry, and manmade traditions that clearly contradicted Scripture and looked nothing like Jesus. And long before the scandals surfaced, I had already sensed the rot beneath the surface. Today, virtually no one in my family is a devout Catholic, and some have turned away from God entirely. Dead religion brings only death.

As a teacher of the living Word of God, I can say with certainty: Catholicism—as Mel Gibson is starting to see—is an apostate religion. It promotes a system of works and rituals, not the Gospel of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It doesn’t point people to the Savior—it points them to a Pope in Rome.

The Way to True Discipleship

Please note that this article is not an attack on Catholics. It’s a plea to them. Gibson’s bold rebuke has opened the door. Now it’s time for Catholics everywhere to open their Bibles and test what they’ve been taught. Jesus didn’t appoint a pope. He didn’t command the worship of statues or prayers to saints. He said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31–32).

There is still time to repent, to come out of dead religion, and follow the living Christ.
