Jeffrey McCall thought that he was happy being a drag queen. He was so sure about his desire to transition into a woman until he felt a deep emptiness in his heart. That’s when his life began to change. This is his testimony of deliverance from homosexuality and a life of sin.
When Jeffrey was 12 years old, he struggled with same-sex attraction. But he only acted on it when he was already 15. Since then, his whole identity has been in being a homosexual. He also took pleasure in the party life of Nashville. He would go partying, drinking, shopping, and jumping from one relationship to another. On top of that, he was also addicted to drugs, taking a ton of Xanax and smoking crystal meth.
That was his lifestyle for about 5 years until he moved to Georgia to attend college. He finished college after 4 years, and not only did he receive a diploma, but he also got a new identity as Scarlet. Transgender people surrounded him, transsexuals and drag queens at that time, because he had a family member who did shows. So in the summer after graduation, he did his first drag show.
Ever since his first drag show, Jeffrey just started living as Scarlet—dressing in women’s clothes and even dating men in his newfound identity. Because of that, it caused him to believe all the more that he was in the wrong body and that he would have to go through surgeries to fully transition into a woman.
He was also living a promiscuous life during those years as Scarlet. Sometimes he would be with more than one guy in a day. Then he started prostituting his body, which also kicked off his heavy drinking. One time, he got violently drunk and threatened to commit suicide. He was admitted to the psychiatric ward in the hospital for 2 days.
After his hospitalization, Jeffrey just felt that he had hit rock bottom. He was in graduate school at that time, and suddenly, everything seemed so empty. He had a secret, though, while living as Scarlet. He has been listening to Jensen Franklin, pastor of a church he visited twice during his college years.
He would listen to the pastor’s sermons on YouTube, and each time, the Holy Spirit would use them to convict him of sin. Around the last semester of his graduate studies, he sat in his room and began weeping. He then spoke to God: “I know people live for you. Not just going to church on Sunday, not just playing a religious game. Something happened, and their life was transformed. Will I ever live for you?” God answered him, “Yes, you will live for me.”
A few months later, Jeffrey did the unthinkable. He threw away all of his wigs, makeup, clothes, shoes, and everything he owned and used as Scarlet. It was a massive step in his journey to a new life because he had planned to undergo sex change surgery. But God changed his heart, and so he began a relationship with Him.
God also told him to make a Facebook Live video to cut ties with everything from his past. He needed to acknowledge Jesus Christ as his savior publicly and cut ties with being a drunkard, homosexuality, and the life of Scarlet. Since that video, he has lost friends and some family members. But his relationship with the Lord grew.
“The day that I made the Facebook Live video, that was the day I was filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible became completely alive to me.”
Jeffrey lost a lot from cutting his old life, but he gained peace and joy that he hadn’t had since he was a very young boy. Today, he is living out his purpose as a mouthpiece of God’s word, sharing the love of God every chance he gets.
