Massachusetts Just Legalized Killing Babies Until Birth — And They’re Applauding

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey signed away every gestational limit on abortion this week, making her state the tenth in America to permit abortions up to the moment of birth. Healey stood before applauding supporters and declared: “Abortion will remain safe. It will remain legal, and it will remain accessible here in Massachusetts. That’s my commitment to you.” (Fox News)

The subject of abortion is nothing new. Lawmakers applauded with glee that a full-term baby, capable of feeling pain, capable of surviving outside the womb, can now be legally aborted, mutilated, or murdered in the state of Massachusetts. This is not “safe health care.” This is not “choice.” This is the taking of an innocent human life who cannot decide for themselves. Scripture is not silent here: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). God does not view the unborn as tissue. He views them as known, named, and loved before they ever draw their first breath.

Under the Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act, medical workers now have “greater discretion in determining whether to perform an abortion later in pregnancy, without facing legal penalties.” Discretion over a beating heart. Discretion over a human soul. No matter how you look at it, it’s murder.

Healey went further, framing her opposition as enemies of women: “The bottom line for people in Massachusetts, if you care about women’s health… I stand with women. My opponents do not.” This is a false narrative. You can love women and refuse to call the killing of their children compassion. The two are not opposites — they are inseparable. A mother and her child both bear the image of God, and true care protects them both.

What This Demands of Us

This is not a Massachusetts issue. This is a soul issue, a heart issue that continues to grow. Nine other states have already walked this road. As Christians, we are the church, the family of God, the body of Christ — and we are by no means called to stay silent about what the Bible clearly stands against. We are called to “open our mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute” (Proverbs 31:8). There is no one more mute, more destitute, than a child hours from birth.

Don’t delay any longer. Pray boldly. Speak out boldly for the innocent. Contact your state legislators today and demand protection for the unborn. Support crisis pregnancy centers with your time and your wallet. And never let anyone convince you that silence is neutral — it is a choice, and the unborn are counting on you to choose differently.
