“Is China Spying Through Your Smart Devices? Congress Sounds a Threatening Alarm.”

WASHINGTON — A bipartisan group of 23 lawmakers has raised serious national-security concerns about smart-home products tied to China’s tech sector. According to their letter, “Open-source information indicates that TP-Link represents a serious and present danger to U.S. ICTS [information and communications technology] security.” (New York Post) — New York Post

The lawmakers focus on the brand TP-Link, whose routers, smart plugs, and cameras are reportedly available through U.S. military exchanges. They warn bluntly that “Right now, nothing stops CCP-tied companies from spying on Americans through internet-connected cameras in our homes.” (New York Post) — New York Post

They also highlight China’s 2017 National Intelligence Law of the People’s Republic of China, which compels Chinese companies and citizens to “support, assist and cooperate with state intelligence work.” (New York Post) — New York Post

These developments resonate beyond the tech industry — they touch on deeper questions of trust, privacy, and spiritual warfare. The Bible warns believers: “The devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) Times may change, but his tactics haven’t. He is patient. He sets snares. And today, these snares are indeed coming through the digital devices in our homes.

We must remember that our battle is not just against tangible threats but also against “the rulers … the cosmic powers over this present darkness.” (Ephesians 6:12) When smart-home devices tied to foreign intelligence-law mandates appear in U.S. military households, we are facing true evidence that both: (1) earthly intrusion is real, and (2) spiritual boundaries are under siege.

This is not the hour for passive living. It is the hour for vigilance.

Guard every portal. Question every connection. Treat every “smart” device with suspicion. Because if we refuse to discern, the very airwaves surrounding us — the domain Scripture calls the territory of the “prince of the power of the air” — can become the adversary’s weapon.
