Earlier this month, Plough Quarterly published an essay titled “What Happens When America Thinks It’s a Christian Nation?” The piece mocks all who defend the Christian foundation of this nation. In response, John Mac Ghlionn of The Blaze called it a “breathtaking exercise in intellectual cowardice, dismissing the very foundation of Western civilization as “absolute absurdity.” We couldn’t agree more.
As Mac Ghlionn wrote, “To deny the role of Christian truth in Western greatness is like denying oxygen’s role in breathing.” That single sentence dismantles Plough’s smug dismissal, exposing it globalist propaganda and an abandonment of centuries of proven governance and liberty rooted in the authority of God.
History testifies plainly. Medieval England’s common law, America’s founding principles, the abolition of slavery, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s civil rights movement all sprang from the Judeo-Christian moral code. The colonists declared rights as God-given. Churches thundered against slavery as sin. Preachers carried Bibles into the fight for freedom, and civil rights leaders wielded Scripture as their shield.
Every great advance in liberty and justice came forged in Christian conviction. To deny it is to erase the truth and replace it with delusion.
The Plough piece parrots the same globalist sneer that brands Christian nationhood “exclusionary.” But what has liberal secularism produced? Broken families, drug epidemics, gender delusion, and despair. Meanwhile, Christians built schools, hospitals, and selfless charities around the globe. Christians ended slavery and religious persecution and child exploitation in the western world, and now work tirelessly to end it everywhere. If this isn’t a Christian nation, what is it? This nation’s Constitution itself rests on the moral law of the Judeo-Christian God. The only true God. We need no religious institution to control our government, nor would we ever accept that. We are a free nation by God’s grace alone. God alone controls us, and we alone are to blame for our failings and our sins, yet a Christian nation we are—warts, liberal atheists, and all.“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” (Psalm 33:12) If America is to remain a free nation, it must reclaim its soul. Christians must rise up, confront this mockery head-on, and reassert the truth in every pulpit, school, and city hall. We must fight for the truth to rule in the nation God gave us, and we must remain the head, never again allowing godless globalists to lord over us. Amen?
