Obey God, Not Man: A Bold Stand Against LGBTQ+

In a culture increasingly hostile to biblical truth, it is both refreshing—and long overdue—to witness courage rise to the surface. Recently, several LGBTQ+ Pride events in Oklahoma, Texas, and beyond were scaled back or outright canceled due to plummeting fundraising, a “heightened climate of hostility,” and a shortage of volunteers. One such group, Bartlesville Equality near Tulsa, stated: “With deep regret, we must announce the postponement of our 2025 Pride celebration… Fundraising efforts have not met the financial needs of Pride 2025. Like many non-profits nationwide, we face a challenging financial climate, with donations down significantly.” (Christian Post)

This proves that the LGBTQ+ movement never truly had popular funding but has simply been propped up by the Biden and Obama administrations. All it took was cutting off federal funding, and their ship began to sink. But I digress.

This is what happens when Christians stop compromising the truth and boldly stand for God’s Word. As Oklahoma street preacher Rich Penkoski declared: “Even local Christians criticized me for being ‘too bold’ in my preaching. But I obeyed God, not man.” (Christian Post) That statement resonates in my heart today. It’s about time we stood firm. Yes—we love the sinner—but we do not condone what they do.

The article continues: Penkoski called the cancellation a spiritual victory: “The result? Victory for Christ. The fruit speaks for itself: Pride canceled, funding pulled, and the city awakened.” (Christian Post)

As a woman of faith, I couldn’t be prouder of this pastor’s conviction. We are in a cultural moment where churches and believers must choose: Whom will we serve? Standing for God is not always popular—but it is always right. Galatians 1:10 reminds us, “If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” We stand for truth, come what may.

We may face criticism—even from within the church—but as Proverbs 29:25 warns: “The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.”
