Hell Is Real—And So Is Redemption

In a recent article by The Christian Post, Steve Kang’s harrowing testimony serves as a stark reminder of the reality of Hell and the hope found in Jesus Christ. Once a Buddhist monk, Kang’s journey from despair to redemption underscores the urgency of embracing the Gospel.

In 1998, plagued by substance abuse and a sense of demonic oppression, Kang attempted suicide by slashing his neck and stomach. During surgery, he experienced what he describes as an eight-hour descent into Hell:

“There was no light… It was just like rocky floor. There’s cliffs everywhere… Just imagine a very dark night without the moon.”

He encountered towering demons and overwhelming agony:

“There’s no ability to converse with people. It was so much pain, so much accusation, so much fear.”

Kang’s experience aligns with biblical descriptions of Hell. Jesus warned of “outer darkness” and “weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 8:12). Revelation 20:15 speaks of the “lake of fire” for those not found in the Book of Life.

Miraculously, Kang’s mother sought help from a Christian friend who organized a prayer group. As they interceded, Kang felt an overwhelming peace and heard a voice he believed to be Jesus, pulling him back from the brink. Doctors later marveled at his recovery, calling it a miracle.

Now, 25 years sober and serving as a pastor at Revive The Nations Ministry, Kang shares his story to warn others:

“Our job… is to share the story and tell people that there is a cure for spiritual cancer or sin or death.”

His testimony is a clarion call: Hell is real, but so is the saving grace of Jesus Christ—the only One who can rescue us from eternal death. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). There is no back door to Heaven, no alternative truth. Kang’s story isn’t just a warning—it’s a wake-up call to a generation teetering on the edge of spiritual apathy. Heaven is real. Jesus is alive. And Hell? It’s not a myth. It’s the eternal consequence of rejecting the only Savior who came to set us free.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Call on the name of Jesus Christ and surrender your life to Him today.
